About the project

Watercourses provide a range of benefits for both nature and society. However, urbanisation is altering their hydrological regime, water quality, channel morphology and biological recovery. The ECOSEVA project brings together Czech and Saxon experts to develop a joint approach to assessing the ecosystem services provided by urban watercourses and to prepare educational activities.

Research sites

We are carrying out an assessment of ecosystem services at four pilot sites in the Czech Republic and Saxony. The selected watercourses represent different natural conditions, land-use patterns and varying degrees of urbanisation.

Events and training

The ECOSEVA project is organising educational activities for university students, practitioners and the general public. The courses, workshops and lectures combine specialist knowledge with laboratory work, field surveys, geographical methods and GIS tools.
